3.5 million handheld steam cleaners have been recalled after 157 people got burned

Portable steam cleaners shouldn’t send you to urgent care or the emergency room. So, more than 3.5 million Bissell Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners were recalled in the United States and Canada.

According to the recall notice by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, “The recalled steam cleaners can expel hot water or steam onto users while heating or during use, posing a burn hazard.”

Bissell says it knows of hot H20 in liquid or gas form being expelled 183 times, and on 157 of those occasions they caused “minor burn injuries.”
