3 hospitalized, including 2 officers, after crash involving L.A. police

Three people, including two police officers, were hospitalized Sunday after a violent crash in South Los Angeles, authorities announced Monday.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Gramercy Place in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of L.A., according to a Los Angeles Police Department’s news release.

Authorities say patrol officers were responding to reports of a man armed with a knife in the area of Adams Boulevard and Saint James Place.

“When the police officers arrived to the area of the call, they determined that immediate assistance was required, prompting a ‘help call’ to detain the armed suspect,” police said.

While responding to the “help call,” a second patrol unit “with lights and sirens activated” collided with the motorist in Jefferson Park,

Details on exactly how the crash occurred have not been released, but police said the lone male driver of the car was critically injured and rushed to the hospital. His condition has not been made available.
