Bridge work on John B. Dennis Highway to affect traffic

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Bridge construction on John B. Dennis Highway in Sullivan County will impact traffic starting July 21.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced on Friday the southbound lane of travel on John B. Dennis Highway will be closed at the bridge over the South Fork of the Holston River between Moreland Drive and Lincoln Street as crews perform bridge repairs.

Northbound traffic will be unaffected during the repairs.

The closures will be in place nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. until July 24.

Detours will be in place. Motorists will be directed to follow Lincoln Street to State Route 126 (Wilcox Drive) around the work zone, TDOT stated.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in the area while workers are present.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions, according to TDOT.
