Camera captures theft of yard tools in Streetsboro

Streetsboro police are asking for help from the public after a homeowner's camera captured someone stealing yard tools from a home.

"What is just as bad as a porch pirate? Someone who steals your yard tools from your driveway," reads the post on the police department's Facebook page.

Police stated that the homeowner was cutting grass in the backyard when a female got out of a car and stole three lawn tools, including a leaf blower and weed trimmer, from the front yard. The suspect yells at the driver as he tries to back up while she enters the vehicle.

"This was planned − the driver has the visor down protecting their face and she is conveniently wearing a mask and sunglasses," the post stated. "We are confident someone out there will recognize her or the car − they made their getaway on Page, most likely going northbound."

The post includes a photo of a tattoo or bruise on the female suspect's right wrist.

Those with information on the identity of the suspect or who recognize the car are asked to call the Streetsboro Dispatch Department at 330-626-4976, email nnewland@streetsboropolice.com or info@streetsboropolice.com.

Reporter Diane Smith, whose Ring camera only captures the occupants of her home entering and leaving, can be reached at dsmith@recordpub.com.
