CHP issues Ebony Alert for missing 12-year-old girl believed to traveling to Sacramento area

The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday issued an Ebony Alert for a missing 12-year-old girl who was last seen in Southern California and is believed to be traveling to the Sacramento area.

Tiana Carter was last seen about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday near Harper Drive and Santa Margarita Road, a residential neighborhood in the city of Ventura. The CHP issued the alert for the missing girl on behalf of the Ventura Police Department.

The CHP said investigators believe Tiana is traveling in an unknown vehicle to the Sacramento area. The CHP issued the alert in Ventura, Stanislaus, San Joaquin and Sacramento counties.

Authorities described Tiana as 5-foot-8, weighing 187 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The CHP said the missing girl was last seen wearing a black-and-orange shirt and her eyeglasses.

Investigators asked anyone who sees the missing girl to call 911.

Ebony Alerts are a new notification system that went into effect this year in California, intended to provide information to the public about the “suspicious or unexplainable disappearance” of a Black youth between ages 12 and 25, according to the CHP.
