18-year-old man charged in the killing of 13-year-old Kent teen during OfferUp meeting

On Tuesday, 18-year-old Faysal Abdullahi was charges with first degree murder in the July 16 fatal shooting of 13-year-old Matthiew Stavkovy.

On July 16, just before 9 p.m., Matthiew and his sister went with two other friends to Turnkey Park where one of the friends had set up a meeting to sell camera equipment through OfferUp. Matthiew and his sister had ridden an ATV to the park.

The friend was negotiating with Abdullahi and a second man, when a third man came out and pulled a gun. The friend was pushed to the ground and his camera equipment was taken and several shots were fired.

Once they saw the gun, Matthiew and his sister ran towards their ATV, attempting to leave the area.

As they got onto the ATV, Matthiew was shot in the back. Matthiew drove for a while, but eventually lost consciousness and his sister took over.

Matthiew’s sister drove to the Kentwood Apartments to get help, but it was too late.

A verified GoFundMe fundraiser was created to assist his family with funeral expenses.

Abdullahi has been the only person arrested in the murder. In addition to First Degree Murder, Abdullahi has also been charged with First Degree Robbery. He is being held on $2 million dollars bail. His arraignment has been scheduled for August 5.
