Driver, 19, suspected of DUI in crash that killed 3 passengers in Los Angeles County

Three passengers were killed in a suspected DUI crash when the driver lost control of her vehicle early Wednesday in the Castaic community of Los Angeles County.

A 2010 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed just before 12:30 a.m. when the driver was unable to navigate a curve on The Old Road and crashed into a tree, the California Highway Patrol stated in a news release.

Three passengers were ejected from the vehicle, which split in half and caught fire after hitting the tree.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Taylor Roberson, was able to extricate herself from the car, the CHP stated.

All three passengers, including a 22-year-old man, were declared dead at the scene. The ages of the other two passengers were unknown and none of the passengers have been identified.

“The driver, and sole survivor of the crash, exhibited signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication,” the CHP stated.

Roberson was tested and determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for major injuries suffered in the crash.
