Former Sacramento Kings shooting guard Ben McLemore has sold his custom-built El Dorado Hills home in the prestigious Serrano Country Club community for $1.9 million.

McLemore bought the home in 2020 for $1.49 million, according to public records, and then built a pool in the backyard. The overall coziness of the estate — even though it spans more than 4,000 square feet of living space — is what attracted the Kings’ 2013 No. 1 pick to the property, according to listing agent Matthew Hindy of Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty.

Hindy specializes in representing athletes, including many Kings players, former players, staff and coaches.

“It had that Tahoe American modern farmhouse kind of style,” Hindy said, “and it just felt very cozy and warm for him and his wife and two kids. With him traveling, he wanted to be in the best area while he was away so that’s why he purchased that home.”

McLemore also liked the primary bedroom on the main floor with a large bonus room leading to the backyard, Hindy added.

“That he made into his media room,” he said. “It had a little wet bar in there. He had his gaming set up there. And he would just kind of lounge and hang out there during down time.”

High-end details

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home built by Snipes Construction in 2018 includes many high-end details and finishes. For example, the home’s gourmet kitchen is highlighted by stone counters imported from Italy, Hindy said.

“Sometimes you see (large) houses and they’re not cozy,” Hindy said. “This was 4,193 square footage, but very usable, very cozy. It had everything that you needed.”

“The heart of the home is found in the chef’s kitchen, where culinary delights come to life amidst top-of-the-line appliances and exquisite finishes,” the property listing states. “The adjoining nook opens to a large great room, bathed in natural light, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.”

The property occupies a corner lot on .43 acres.

Outside features include a covered loggia with a fireplace.

Two additional guest suites are upstairs.

El Dorado Hills is 30 miles northeast of Sacramento, California.

McLemore was selected seventh overall in the 2013 draft. He spent four seasons with Sacramento before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies in July 2017. He was traded back to the Kings in July 2018, but was waived in February 2019. He is currently playing basketball for Spanish team Río Breogán.

In April, McLemore released a statement denying allegations he raped a woman in 2021 while playing for another NBA team, and said he was confident his name would be cleared.
