Former USC star Boogie Ellis helps Kings beat Suns in final Las Vegas Summer League game

Former USC star Boogie Ellis helped the Sacramento Kings leave Las Vegas with a win over the Phoenix Suns in their NBA Summer League finale.

Ellis came off the bench to score 17 points in an 87-77 victory at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion. The rookie guard added three rebounds, two assists and two steals while going 7 of 13 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point range.

Ellis led four players in double figures for the Kings, who went 2-3 in Las Vegas after suffering a one-point loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday and a four-point loss to the Washington Wizards on Thursday.

Forward Isaac Jones had 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots for Sacramento. Former Gonzaga star Drew Timme had 14 points and seven rebounds while Isaiah Crawford added 14 points and five rebounds.

Jalen Bridges scored 16 points to lead the Suns (2-3). Isaiah Wong came off the bench to score 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. David Roddy had 11 points.

The Kings shot 52.3% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range. The Suns shot just 41.2% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc while committing 15 turnovers.

The Kings led 21-20 at the end of the first quarter but trailed 40-38 at the halftime break. Jones converted a three-point play with 15 seconds to go in the third quarter to give Sacramento a 61-59 lead going into the fourth.

The Kings were clinging to a two-point lead when Crawford hit a 3-pointer to put them up 74-69 with 4:48 remaining. They stretched the lead to double digits after Ellis made a 3-pointer as part of a 9-2 run that put the Kings in control.
