GoFundMe campaign set up for Disneyland employee killed in tragic accident

Family and friends of Club 33 manager Bonnye Lear have launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral services, legal fees and other unexpected costs following Lear’s death in a tragic accident at Disneyland.

“Known for her kind, gentle soul and loving personality, Bonnye Lear would light up a room with a level of professionalism that was unmatched,” a message on the campaign website said. “She was a firework and spread her light to all of those around her with enthusiasm and grace. Bonnye’s three children have been faced with unimaginable hurdles and could use a lot of support in these trying times,”

The family is hoping to raise $100,000; so far, they have raised nearly $5,000.

Lear, 60, of Fullerton, was seriously injured on June 5 after falling off a moving golf cart in the backstage area of Critter Country. Leer died from her injuries two days later, officials told KTLA.

Lear was an administrator for Club 33, the exclusive members-only dining club located above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland.

State officials with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, along with Anaheim police detectives, are investigating the accident.

Disneyland is required to report any serious injury or fatality to Cal/OSHA within eight hours and preserve any physical evidence related to the accident, according to the organization.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said in a statement.

“At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”
