Krispy Kreme is offering customers sweet relief from a crippling global software outage.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., customers can get a free original glazed doughnut at participating Krispy Kreme shops nationwide, the Charlotte-based bakery chain said Friday, July 19.
No purchase is necessary.
“Does technology have you down today?,” the chain said in a post on X. “Our windows are working great and so is our Hot Light!”

A glitch affecting cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike caused major disruptions to online systems early Friday, stifling operations at the nation’s biggest airlines, health care systems, banks, media companies and other businesses.
A Microsoft Windows software update issued by the security firm is seemingly at the center of the global outage, CNN reported. Some remedies have been deployed as of Friday afternoon.
“We understand the gravity of the situation and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption,” CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz wrote on X, adding the company is “working with all impacted customers” to get things back up and running.
