L.A. County issues heat warnings, advisories for multiple areas

As the Southland braces for a weekend heat wave that could boast highs in the triple digits, Los Angeles County officials highlighted several areas where residents could be especially vulnerable.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued heat warnings for the following areas:

  • Western San Gabriel Mountains/Hwy 14 Corridor: Saturday through Sunday

  • Antelope Valley: Saturday through Thursday

  • Western Antelope Valley: Saturday through Thursday

  • Eastern Antelope Valley: Saturday through Thursday

Triple-digit temperatures arriving this weekend for a Southern California summer heat wave

Public Health also issued advisories for these areas, all of which remain in place on Saturday and Sunday:

  • West San Fernando Valley

  • East San Fernando Valley

  • San Gabriel Valley

  • Santa Clarita Valley

  • East San Gabriel Mountains

“On hot days, it’s important for everyone to both take care of themselves and check on others, especially those who have a higher chance of getting ill due to the heat. Some of them include children, the elderly, those with health conditions, pregnant people, those living alone, and pets,” said Dr. Muntu Davis, Los Angeles County health officer. “Hot days can be dangerous for anyone, so it’s crucial to stay cool and hydrated. Never leave children, the elderly, or pets alone in hot homes, places, or vehicles. Make sure to check on elderly or unwell neighbors and relatives regularly.”
