L.A. street takeover mob sets cars ablaze, loots restaurant

Los Angeles police officers were busy overnight Sunday into Monday morning, breaking up several street takeovers that involved cars getting torched, a sheared fire hydrant and looting.

News video service OnScene.TV captured footage of takeovers in South L.A., Manchester Square and Compton.

An estimated 300 people took over the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Normandie around 4 a.m. Monday. Authorities arrived to find a car had been set on fire.

Around two hours earlier, a street takeover mob took over the intersection of Manchester and Avalon and looted a Wing Stop restaurant, OnScene.TV reported.

At Century Boulevard and Western, cars were seen on video doing donuts as water sprayed from a sheared fire hydrant into the intersection.

Another takeover was reported at Rosecrans and Central Avenue in Compton.

OnScene’s photographer believes it was the same group of people moving from location to location, but that information was not initially confirmed by authorities.

It is unclear if anyone was arrested or how many vehicles were impounded by police.
