Man confessed to a shooting that injured 4-year-old boy in Tamiami mobile home, cops say

A 4-year-old was grazed by a bullet at a Tamiami mobile home Saturday night. A man was arrested, police say, after confessing to the shooting.

Christopher Stiven Delcarpio Cabezudo, 23, faces a slew of charges, including second-degree attempted murder. He has yet to be booked in the jail as he’s currently hospitalized, police confirmed to the Miami Herald.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Southwest 127th Court. A 4-year-old boy had been shot in the torso.

The child was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in critical condition, according to police. His wound was treated, and he has since been released from the hospital.

Delcarpio Cabezudo, police say, was hanging out with friends at a nearby mobile home on the night of the shooting. At some point, an argument among the group escalated when he pointed a gun at a 28-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man.

He shot at the duo — but some of the bullets pierced the walls, according to an arrest report.

One of them struck the boy.

At the scene, detectives found 9mm casings as well as bullet holes in the walls and in a nearby Infiniti SUV, according to the report.

While in the area, detectives pulled over Delcarpio Cabezudo who was in a rideshare vehicle, the report states. He refused to get out of the car, and investigators pulled him out and restrained him on the ground.

Detectives then searched Delcarpio Cabezudo’s home and uncovered a 9mm Taurus handgun, four shell casings and 37 live rounds of ammunition.
