Man hospitalized after police shooting in Huntington Beach

A man was shot by police as they responded to a call for service in Huntington Beach overnight.

The officers were sent to Goldenwest Street and Heil Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

“Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult male and an officer involved shooting occurred,” the Huntington Beach Police Department stated in a news release.

The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital where he was being treated for his injuries. There was no word on his condition.

Video showed police team around the pumps of an ARCO gas station located at the intersection.

No details were provided about what prompted the officers to open fire.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation, police said.

No officers were injured in the incident.
