Motorcyclist, 21, killed in 2-vehicle crash in Southern California

A 21-year-old Ventura County man was killed after a two-vehicle collision threw him from his motorcycle late last week, authorities announced Monday.

The June 14 crash occurred just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of Westlake Boulevard and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the motorcyclist, now identified as Oxnard resident Jose Luis Diaz Cruz, collided with a car in the intersection.

At the scene, responding deputies attempted life saving measures until paramedics and firefighters arrived and administered more advanced care, the release noted. The 21-year-old was rushed to Los Robles Hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The other motorist was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Authorities have not said if they believe alcohol and or drugs played a factor in the deadly collision.
