One person dead in shooting near Eagle Creek Park

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one male dead on the northwest side of the city near Eagle Creek Park.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police responded to a report of a person shot in the 4400 block of Braemar Drive, and located a person who had died from gunshot wounds, said IMPD Public Information Officer Drew Brown in a preliminary meeting with the media.

The person shot was described as a juvenile male, however, police are still trying to determine the age of the individual.

Police have one person of interest in custody.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and that the public is safe.
