Pedestrian fatally struck while walking on 105 Freeway in Lynwood
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking in lanes on the 105 Freeway in Lynwood early Thursday morning.
The California Highway Patrol received reports of vehicles nearly missing a pedestrian in the roadway on the westbound 105 Freeway near the 710 interchange around 1:45 a.m.
Officers were called on to run a traffic break but the pedestrian was struck a short time later, according to the CHP’s traffic incident log.
The unidentified victim died at the scene from her injuries.
A SigAlert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the westbound 105 at the 710 around 2 a.m.
Police have not confirmed any details about the crash but freelance media firm KNN said initial reports indicated that a female may have been having an argument with her boyfriend while traveling in a vehicle.
At some point, the boyfriend pulled over and the female exited on the freeway where she was struck by another vehicle, KNN reported.
Video showed a CHP officer standing next to a man who was sitting on the shoulder of the freeway next to a parked vehicle following the crash.
The SigAlert was canceled and freeway lanes were reopened shortly before 6:30 a.m.
