Two Cal Fire aircraft, hand crews and some heavy equipment were brought in to fight the blaze as temperatures hit 85 degrees with 8-mile-per-hour winds and gusts of up to 24 miles per hour.

Officials with the Apple Valley Police Department announced evacuation orders for residents east of Central Avenue, west of Cerra Vista Street and south of Roundup Way just before 7:30 p.m.

“Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now,” police said in a post to X, formerly Twitter.
