Popular cannabis brand presents Southern California city with $230K donation

One of the most popular cannabis brands in America is giving back to a Southern California community.

Stiiizy, whose products include vape batteries, THC pods, marijuana extracts, edibles and flower, presented a check in the amount of $229,515 to Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval during a ceremony on Friday.

The money is being donated with the purpose of improving local parks and schools in Pomona; to date, Stiiizy says they have donated a total of $730,000 and paid over $4.5 million in cannabis taxes that have benefitted recreational spaces and schools within a half-mile radius of the store, including John F. Kennedy Park.

According to a Stiiizy spokesperson, the donation is part of the company’s continued support for revitalizing Pomona, especially communities that have been historically disenfranchised.

The partnership also demonstrates the power that cannabis provides through partnership, Stiiizy said.

“This check presentation represents an extraordinary public-private partnership between STIIIZY and the City of Pomona,” Stiiizy Vice President of Public Affairs and Expansion Stephanie Uy said.  “We want to show people that legal cannabis can bring resources and sustainable change to communities.”

Local leaders seem to be in agreement with the cannabis company, and they say Stiiizy has provided more than just money to the Pomona community.

“Labor and good jobs are things that we are always looking for here in Pomona,” City Councilmember John Nolte said. “This is an example of the good everyone in our community can do together.”

Stiiizy’s Pomona dispensary is located at 1605 West Holt Ave. and is open from 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. every day.  More information about the location can be found here.

Founded in 2017 by cannabis industry experts, Stiiizy is the largest private cannabis company and top-selling weed brand in the U.S., company officials stated. They have seven cultivation facilities, five manufacturing facilities and four distribution facilities nationwide that employ more than 1,700 people.

There is a total of 34 Stiiizy retail stores in California and a further three in Michigan.
