Roseville police find woman suspected in smuggling at California prison, also wanted in Ohio

Officers responding to a disturbance call in Roseville found a woman wanted on fraud charges in Ohio and suspected in a drug trafficking scheme at a Northern California prison.

The disturbance call involving a woman and a man came June 30, the Roseville Police Department announced Saturday in a news release. The woman had left the area by the time officers arrived at the scene.

Officers identified the woman and learned she was wanted on an arrest warrant from Ohio on multiple fraud charges, police said. Authorities in Ohio confirmed they would extradite her, which prompted officers to search for her.

As the officers searched, a plainclothes agent from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation also was searching for the same woman. Police said the CDCR agent told officers the woman might be in the area of the Raley’s ONE Market on Blue Oaks Boulevard.

The officers found the wanted woman at a nearby yogurt shop and took her into custody. Police said the arrested woman was suspected of being involved in smuggling drugs and phones into Pelican Bay Prison in Del Norte County.

The Police Department did not release any further details about the woman arrested last month.
