See largest listing in Maui — 3,500-acre ranch home with ocean views — for sale for $75M

Hāna Ranch — the largest land offering on the Hawaiian island of Maui — has hit the market for $75 million.

The 3,546-acre ranch was established as a working cattle ranch in 1944. It remains an iconic agricultural land holding with an emphasis on regenerative agriculture and strong environmental stewardship, and is one of the few remaining private holdings of its size in Hawaii, according to Hawai’i Life.

The acreage, along the eastern coast, is offered as fee simple land, granting the buyer absolute ownership and control over the property.

The sale includes 37 separate parcels and allows for the creation of a secluded estate with multiple home sites. With Pacific Ocean and mountain views, the property contains a two-bedroom farm house with direct views of the sea. There are also equestrian facilities, including a rodeo arena, ranch and farm buildings and equipment, multiple wells and storage tanks, as well as gates allowing rotational grazing.

“To categorize Hāna Ranch as rare would be an understatement,” Matt Beall, CEO of Hawai’i Life, said in an email. “It’s the most unique offering of land I’ve seen in my 25-plus year career. There’s nothing like it, even geographically, let alone on any market, anywhere else in the world. Given Hawaii’s history, it’s amazing that it’s still a contiguous offering.”

As a bonus, the ranch is reportedly located next to nearly 100 undeveloped acres owned by media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

Beall anticipates the new buyer will carry on the legacy of the ranch’s land practices. The current owner has maintained the practice of regenerative agriculture on the land, including rotational grazing and restoration of forests and watershed. Orchards of tropical fruit and ‘ulu (breadfruit) grow there. A diverse array of vegetable crops have been cultivated on the land over the years, offering the potential for large-scale production.

“The ideal buyer is someone who’s intent on furthering the stewardship and legacy of the ranch, and who’s considerate of the ranch’s conservation potential as well as its significance to the community in Hana,” Beall added. “Bio-Logical Capital, the sellers, have done an extraordinary job of improving the ranch’s infrastructure and setting the stage for that legacy to be continued.”

Hāna Ranch is managed by a dedicated paniolo, or cowboy, according to Hawai’i Life.

Beall, Josh Jerman and Beth Robinson of Hawai’i Life are the listing agents.
