Three shot, one dead, in Northwest Miami-Dade, initial police reports say

Three people were shot, one of them fatally, in Northwest Miami-Dade Friday afternoon, police said.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. behind the West Airport Shopping Centre at 7367 NW 36th St., about a mile east of Doral, according to the emergency calls, according to police.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told the Miami Herald that two people were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital — one person by helicopter and one by ambulance. Another person was treated at the scene for minor injuries, a fire rescue spokesperson said.

Detective Andre Martin, a Miami-Dade police spokesman, said an argument precipitated the gunfire. Once shots rang out, several people scattered.

The person who died was found at the scene, Martin said.

So far, police have five people detained who had “various degrees of involvement” in the shooting, Martin said, adding, that as of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
