Suspect in custody following assault report, standoff near KTLA
A man possibly armed with a hammer was taken into custody after a reported assault and barricade situation in Hollywood Wednesday night.
The alleged assault was reported around 10:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Terzes confirmed.
Video showed multiple units including armored LAPD trucks responding to the area after the suspect barricaded himself in an apartment building across the street from KTLA’s studio.
Residents were seen standing outside after parts of the building were evacuated.
The unidentified suspect was taken into custody a few hours after the initial call to police freelance media firm KNN reported.
No further details about the initial assault call were immediately available.
It was also unclear if any weapon was found on the suspect.
