Police sealed off part of Grimsby town centre following reports a suspected World War One explosive device had been found.

Humberside Police said officers were called to Frederick Ward Way at about 13:00 BST on Sunday.

Police said road closures were in force at Alexandra Road and Cartergate and officers advised people to avoid the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended and safely removed the device, the force added.
