Sutter Health buys 7-acre site in Roseville. What’s being planned for future facility?

Sutter Health’s plans for growth in Roseville took a big step after the health care giant acquired 7.3 acres in Roseville where it plans to build a new primary care center.

The Sacramento-based company announced Monday it had closed on a $4.95 million deal to acquire a parcel on Highland Pointe Drive near the southeast intersection of Highway 65 and Pleasant Grove Boulevard near Roseville Fire Station No. 7. The future facility, Sutter Health said, would house Sutter Health Medical Group physicians and provide services such as primary care, urgent care and specialists.

No timeline for construction has been announced.

Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Sutter Health, said the Roseville purchase was part of Sutter Health’s plan to provide accessible health care in the capital region and beyond.

“We are committed to our mission of caring for our patients first and our people always, and this includes reinvesting in our facilities, equipment and communities,” Thomas said.

“Care center projects like Highland Pointe not only allow us to accommodate more patients, but also enable us to increase the number of physicians in growing communities like Roseville and Rocklin,” said Dr. Karun Grossman, chief medical officer for Sutter Medical Group and a practicing physician in the Sacramento region.

Rachael McKinney, Sutter Health’s Greater Sacramento Market president, said the project would address the health care needs of the community and “provide comprehensive, integrated and connected care for getting and staying well.”

The Roseville Highland Pointe Primary Care Center — two miles northwest of Sutter Roseville Medical Center — is in the early stages of development, officials said, and Sutter was engaging with local stakeholders to meet the community’s needs.

“Collaboration will be key throughout the development process,” Gary Zufelt, ambulatory CEO for Sutter Medical Foundation and the system’s Sacramento division, said. “And we look forward to working with community leaders and keeping the community informed as further details of our plans progress.”

The move comes on the heels of more expansion after Sutter Health said it had expanded its medical center, Placer County’s only Level II trauma center, by 36 beds this month.
