There’s a system that can turn into a tropical depression. Florida’s in the possible path

A weather system in the Atlantic Ocean has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next week, the National Hurricane Center said.

The projected long term path of the system includes Florida, Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic and other parts of the Caribbean.

Sunday morning’s update from the hurricane center said the system near the Leeward Islands and Greater Antilles “is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave during the next several days ... a tropical depression could form around midweek while the system is near or over the northern Leeward Islands, Greater Antilles, or southwestern Atlantic Ocean.”

Formation chance through 48 hours: Near zero.

Formation chance through seven days: 40%.
