Traffic alert: Flipped cop car closes 81st to 84th streets on Biscayne Boulevard

Biscayne Boulevard is closed between 81st and 84th streets due to a police-involved car crash.

The incident involved a crash during a pursuit related to a shooting investigation, according to Miami Police spokesperson Michael Vega.

Miami Police were first alerted to the car at the center of the chase by Palm Beach County, which said the woman driving and the man in the passenger seat were wanted by authorities.

Miami Police tried to stop the car with a “tactical maneuver” on 79th Street and Biscayne Boulevard, Vega said, but the driver got away. They finally stopped the car on 82nd Street using another maneuver. During the second maneuver, a police vehicle was involved in a crash, in which the car flipped over. The suspects’ car was also damaged. Additionally, a civilian vehicle was grazed by a police car.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested. Palm Beach County authorities are investigating the incident.

The police vehicle overturned near the intersection of Northeast 82nd Street and Biscayne Boulevard. The officer inside had minor injuries, police said.

A video posted on the Instagram account OnlyinDade shows a chaotic scene where multiple police cars and officers, many with their guns drawn, surround the suspects involved in the chase. The footage showed at least one person being taken into custody by the police.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
