Donald Trump will headline a conservative political and religious summit in West Palm Beach on Friday, the right-wing group Turning Point Action announced.

The former president is set to deliver the keynote address at the Believers’ Summit, a Christian conservative gathering just a short drive from Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago. The event kicks off Friday at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and runs through Sunday.

Trump’s scheduled appearance at the conference comes just days after he formally accepted the GOP presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and less than two weeks after an attempt on the former president’s life during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump was grazed by a bullet on his right ear, while one rally attendee was killed in the gunfire. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by Secret Service agents.

The Believers’ Summit, which is organized by Turning Point Action, appears eager to celebrate Trump’s survival in the assassination attempt; in announcing Trump’s speech, the group said that there has been “a renewed focus on God’s providential hand on the future of America and the candidacy of President Trump.”

“It’s clear to all who have watched and observed the events of the last few weeks that President Trump is only here by the Grace of Almighty God,” Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and Turning Point Action’s president, said in a statement. “The president acknowledges the same. Our nation was a quarter of an inch away from being thrown into unimaginable turmoil and chaos.”

The gathering comes at a particularly chaotic moment in the presidential race. Aside from the assassination attempt, Trump’s expected Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden, announced this week that he would bow out of his reelection campaign.

He has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him on the ticket, and Democrats nationwide have begun to coalesce around her candidacy.
