    Newt Gingrich

Conservative commentator and former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich formally announced on May 11 that he was entering the 2012 race for the White House.

"There's a much better American future ahead with more jobs, more prosperity, a better health system, longer lives, greater independent living and a country that is decentralized under the 10th Amendment with power once again back with the American people and away from the Washington bureaucracy," Gingrich proclaimed in a YouTube video as he launched his candidacy for the GOP nomination. He also charged that "there are some people who don't mind if America becomes a wreck as long as they dominate the wreckage."

Widely known for his Contract with America agenda that is credited with the 1994 Republican Revolution that gave the GOP control of the House for the first time in 40 years, Gingrich, 68, has a reputation among supporters as a visionary who is sharp on policy.

I am so happy that Gingrich finds it so amusing to have wasted everyone's money and time pretending to be a viable candidate when he knew from the start he would never make it. Big joke to him, I guess, providing "SNL with material." Not so amusing to me. Also not so amusing is his bandwagon cowardice he has proven by his "endorsement" of the man who he proclaimed to be unfit to be president, Romney. Not enough courage to stand by his statements that Romney is a lousy candidate and back someone who he thinks may be a better choice. These are strange men, these Republican candidates. None seem to have any convictions they are ready to defend to their end.

Thus, the high lord of "family" values, the outspoken deadset Spanish Inquisition leader against adultery (that did family obliterating adultery and is a serial family breaking divorcee) decides to end it. His decision to bow out could possibly be the most graceful thing he has ever done. Other highlights include flip flopping on military operations and getting massively in debt.

Thank-you Newt for wasting $280,000 of taxpayer money while you take an ego trip for a week after you said you would bow out. I love your principles. Do you plan on paying the American taxpayer back? Nah, that would actually take you doing something for America instead of your ego.
      • B. 25 days ago
Well now Jabba, doesn't it bother you that your president spends millions of your tax dollars on party's and vacations. Get real or are you one who lives off the system?
      • jabba 25 days ago
Actually B, if that is your real name....and I will just assume that you are living of the same system you despise...whether it be social security, medicare, veterans benefits....etc.....I am glad to have ruffled your feathers with the truth. A man running for president who is over $5 million in debt and racked up $280,000 in wasted tax money, is not qualified to lecture about fiscal discipline. I am of course speaking about Newt, and I just wanted to make sure you follow me.
As far as lavish vacations on the taxpayer dime, I have yet to see anything that is alarmingly different from past presidents. Bush used security details at his Crawford Ranch during his month long vacation. Heads of state are always welcomed by the president and dinners are held to impress them....or did the Karzai dinner and the Chinese Ambassador dinner under W not happen.
Your living off the system comments are typical Limbaugh talking points and I will respond by saying that while I regret my current career pays less than government assistance, I still get the joy of calling out the hypocrisy of blowhards such as yourself by rejecting your notion that I somehow live off the system because I am capable of independent thought and my view differs from you. I must be a Nazi Socialist pinko commi that milks the system dry. When in reality you are the socialist that draws a socialist check in the form of social security and will participate in a socialist medicare program. If you do not currently participate in these programs you soon will and my generalization still fits. Your attitude is probably, "I paid in so I earned it." Enjoy your socialism.
Your broad generalization that the POTUS is spending millions and millions on lavish caviar lunches and riviera vacations is ill founded.
The reality is that Newt stated he was dropping out a week ago but still kept the security at a cost of $40,000 a day. That is $280,000 of wasted taxpayer money from the man that was running on fiscal discipline and against waste. You can't refute that.

My favorite Newt Gingrich quote (speaking the truth):
"As people get to know more about Ron Paul, who disowns 10 years of his own newsletter, says he didn't really realize what was in it, had no idea what he was making money off of, had no idea that it was racist, anti-Semitic, called for the destruction of Israel, talked about a race war - all of this is a sudden shock to Ron Paul?" he asked. "There will come a morning people won't take him as serious person. . . . I just suggest to people, before you decide that I'm wrong, read the newsletters."
