Next-gen iPad Air rear shell shown up close in major new leak

The next-generation iPad Air isn’t generating nearly as much hype as the upcoming iPhone 6 but it’s still nice to see Apple-releated leaks every now and then that have nothing to do with the company’s next flagship smartphone. Nowhereelse.fr has gotten its hands on some newly leaked pictures of the next-generation iPad Air that show us the new tablet’s rear shell up close.

FROM EARLIER: Bloomberg: The 12.9-inch ‘iPad Pro’ is real and it’s coming next year

While these new pictures don’t tell us much new, Nowhereelse.fr says they “confirm that among other things the back microphone is now placed alongside the image sensor of the tablet rather than the center of the upper part, [and] that the volume control buttons are now inserted in a cavity.”

Apple’s next iPad Air will likely be released in October after Apple has already taken the wraps off its new 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The tablet’s release will come at a time when iPad sales have shown significant year-over-year declines and when Apple is thinking of new ways to reignite demand for its tablets. A report from earlier this week claimed that Apple will try to spark fresh demand for iPads next year by releasing a giant 12.9-inch “iPad Pro” sometime in early 2015.

We’ve posted one of Nowhereelse.fr’s pics of the next-gen iPad Air shell below but you should really click on the source link to get a look at more pics.
