    In compliance with the Retirement Industry Trade Association (RITA) recommendations for 2012, Next Generation Trust Services, LLC has posted valuable resources for consumers to help safeguard them against potential investment fraud.     RITA (http://www.ritaus.org) is a national association committed to the continued growth and expansion of self-directed retirement plan administration. Next Generation Trust Services, founded in 2004 by CEO Jaime Raskulinecz, is a third-party administrator of self-directed retirement accounts; its professionals provide account administration and transaction support for self-directed IRAs as well as education and guidance about self-direction to its clients.     Safeguarding Seniors and Retirees Against Investment Fraud

    According to the RITA website, seniors own more than half of all the financial assets in America and are the primary targets for fraudulent practices. It states that:


    •     The U.S. Subcommittee on Health and Long Term Care estimates that although seniors represent only 12% of the population, they represent 30% of the scam victims.

    •     Research indicates that baby boomers and older investors are natural targets for a wide variety of unscrupulous marketing practices due to the length of time they have had to accumulate significant retirement assets.

    •     Pursuit of seniors’ “nest eggs” is one of the fastest growing consumer fraud issues today.

    Raskulinecz also points investors to RITA’s Senior Fraud Prevention Guide for more information about identifying and avoiding investor fraud among older adults. Her firm also offers free educational seminars and webinars throughout the year to help investors and their advisors learn more about self-education as a wealth-building strategy.
