Nexus 5 smartphone, Nexus 7.7 tablet rumored for May debut

Anxious Android fans still can’t manage to get their hands on a Nexus 4, but Google (GOOG) and LG (066570) are reportedly already prepping a sequel to the sleek smartphone. A purportedly plugged-in user on Korean-language tech forum Ruliweb claims knowledge of Google’s next-generation Nexus smartphone, the LG-built Nexus 5. The handset reportedly features a 5-inch full-HD display, a quad-core Tegra 4 processor, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and Android “Key Lime Pie,” the next version of Google’s mobile operating system.

Also on tap is the Nexus 7.7, which is supposedly a Tegra 4-powered tablet with a 7.7-inch 1,920 x 1,200-pixel display, 8GB of storage and both front and rear high-definition cameras. The tablet is said to be built by LG as well.

According to the report, the Nexus 5 will be unveiled in May alongside Key Lime Pie and the Nexus 7.7 during Google’s annual Google I/O conference, and it will launch soon after starting at $299.
