NFL roundup: Chiefs don't offer public memorial for Belcher
The Kansas City Chiefs offered a moment of silence for victims of domestic violence at Sunday's game against Carolina but did not memorialize linebacker Jovan Belcher publicly.
Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, on Saturday morning at their home in Kansas City and then drove to the team's training facility and killed himself with a gunshot after speaking with team officials, including coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli.
There were no decals or patches on the players' uniforms. According to reports, the team planned a private remembrance in the locker room.
The decision to play Sunday's game was placed in the hands of coach Romeo Crennel and the team captains.
Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt said in an interview with NFL Network at Arrowhead Stadium that the vote was unanimous to let the game go on as planned against the Carolina Panthers. The Chiefs won the game.
---A member of the Cleveland Browns' grounds crew was found hanged in the team's maintenance shed at its training facility in Berea, Ohio, on Saturday at about the same time that killed his girlfriend and committed suicide.
The Browns identified the man, who apparently committed suicide, as Eric Eucker, an assistant groundskeeper. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office comfirmed that it was called Saturday morning to investigate.
---Tennessee offensive tackle David Stewart suffered an apparent broken right leg on the Titans' first series Sunday against Houston.
Stewart was carted off the field by trainers, who placed the leg in an air cast. He was injured when Texans linebacker Barrett Ruud rolled onto the leg during a 26-yard run by Chris Johnson. Mike Otto came into the game as a replacement.
Stewart has started 103 games since he was drafted in 2005 out of Mississippi State.
---Minnesota wide receiver Percy Harvin missed his third straight game because of a sprained left ankle.
Harvin was inactive for Sunday's game at Green Bay. The Vikings said Saturday that Harvin would not accompany the team on the road, but the injury report confirmed his absence. He was listed as doubtful earlier in the week.
--- New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez left Sunday's game against Arizona midway through the third quarter and his replacement, backup Greg McElroy, threw a touchdown pass in his first NFL action and the Jets beat the Cardinals 7-6.
Sanchez was 10 of 21 for 97 yards and had thrown three interceptions when he exited the game.
Tim Tebow had been placed on the inactive list by the Jets before the game because of a rib injury. In Tebow's place, the Jets activated McElroy for the first time in his two-year NFL career.
---The St. Louis Rams faced San Francisco on Sunday without wide receiver Danny Amendola.
Amendola was declared inactive before the game by the Rams because of a foot injury.
---Oakland running back Darren McFadden sat out his fourth consecutive game Sunday with a sprained right ankle.
McFadden has not played since a Nov. 4 loss to Tampa Bay. In eight games this season, he has rushed for 455 yards on 139 carries, topping 100 yards in two games.
-- Miami offensive tackle Jake Long suffered an apparent triceps injury in the first half of Sunday's game against New England.
Long, the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft out of Michigan in 2008, didn't return to the game and was in street clothes on the sideline, NFL.com reported. The Dolphins fear he could be out for the rest of the season with a torn triceps.
If the initial diagnosis is accurate, Long's career in Miami could have ended Sunday. He's scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent as his rookie contract expires at the end of the season.
