Teams are starting to make roster moves in preparation for next season, and Devin Hester gave teams something to consider when he changed his mind about retiring but said he might be better off with another team.
Hester said at the end of the season that he would retire after coach Lovie Smith was fired. He changed his tune, according to Monday's Chicago Tribune, saying that he thinks a "fresh start" with another team might be best for him.
He also said he would no longer be interested in playing wide receiver if he plays for the Bears.
"I'm going to try to get two or three more years in," Hester said. "I think I have that much left in me. At the same time, I think I do need a fresh start."
Hester, 30, struggled as a receiver in 2012, catching just 23 passes for 242 yards.
Hester is set to make $2.1 million this year, the final year of his contract. He said he may ask to be traded.
--The Detroit Lions have waived disgruntled wide receiver Titus Young, multiple media outlets reported. The team has had problems with Young's behavior and comments all season, and he was disciplined several times.
Last month he criticized the Lions organization on Twitter. Young, 23, had 33 catches for 383 yards and four touchdowns in 2012.
---Linebacker Brandon Joiner, who was released from prison last month, has been reinstated to the Cincinnati Bengals roster.
Joiner signed with the team as an undrafted free agent last May, but he was sentenced to three years in prison on robbery and drug charges from a 2007 incident that took place when he was at Texas A&M. He did not play in 2012.
---Candlestick Park, which is home to the San Francisco 49ers, reportedly will be demolished after next season.
The stadium will host 49ers home games next season before the team moves into its new stadium in Santa Clara, which is scheduled to be ready for the 2014 season. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Candlestick Park will be destroyed with a 30-second implosion shortly after next year's NFL season to make way for a shopping center.
