NH unemployment rate decreases for April

New Hampshire unemployment rate shows decrease for April

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire's monthly unemployment rate for April is 5.5 percent, a slight decrease from March.

The state Employment Security bureau says the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 5.7 percent.

The April 2012 seasonally adjusted rate for New Hampshire was 5.4 percent.

The national rate for the month was 7.5 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the March rate.

The number of employed residents in New Hampshire this past April was 703,100, an increase of 1,180 from the previous month and an increase of 900 from April 2012.

The number of unemployed residents decreased by 1,690 over the month, to 41,010. This was 1,040 more unemployed than in April 2012.
