(Adds later games) Jan 27 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Monday's National Hockey League games - - - Penguins 3, Sabres 0 Marc-Andre Fleury's solid goaltending and a welcome return to form for Pittsburgh's offense was more than enough to propel the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins past Buffalo. Fleury stopped 24 shots to post his fourth shutout of the season and his league-leading 29th win for the Penguins (37-14-2) Chris Kunitz netted his 26th goal of the season, to go with scores from Deryk Engelland and Tanner Glass, as Pittsburgh found the net again following a 3-0 defeat in Dallas on Saturday. Buffalo (14-30-7) lost for the sixth time in seven games. - - - Avalanche 4, Stars 3 The Colorado Avalanche ended their three-game road trip and snapped the Dallas Stars' three-game winning streak with a hard-fought victory over Dallas. The Avalanche (33-14-5), who finished their road trip at 2-1-0, won the game on a goal from left winger Alex Tanguay early in the third period. Captain Gabriel Landeskog contributed two assists and goalie Semyon Varlamov stopped 41 shots for Colorado (33-14-5). Tyler Seguin had two goals and an assist for Dallas (24-21-8). Captain and center Jamie Benn (goal, assist) and defenseman Alex Goligoski (two assists) each had two points for the Stars. - - - Bruins 6, Islanders 3 Six different Boston Bruins players scored and the Bruins broke open a close game with three unanswered goals over a nine-minute span bridging the second and third periods on their way to a 6-3 win over the New York Islanders. With their third straight win, the Bruins (33-15-3) broke a tie with Tampa Bay atop the Atlantic Division and avoided being swept by the Islanders in the season series. Goaltender Chad Johnson made 34 saves for the Bruins while New York goaltender Kevin Poulin made 30 saves for the Islanders (21-26-8) before he was pulled for Evgeni Nabokov, who was activated from the injured list earlier on Monday. - - - Hurricanes 3, Blue Jackets 2 Jordan Staal capped a three-goal rally in less than a three third period minutes as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets. Eric Staal scored the first two goals of the onslaught, that began with 8:42 remaining, while Jordan Staal's winner came with 5:55 to play to improve the Hurricanes' (24-19-9) winning streak to four games. Columbus grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period behind scores from Derek MacKenzie and R.J. Umberger. The Blue Jackets (26-22-4) lost their second game in a row after an eight-game winning streak. - - - Kings 1, Sharks 0 Anze Kopitar's second-period goal accounted for all of the offense in a tight-checking game as the Los Angeles Kings beat the San Jose Sharks to snap their six-game win streak. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made 23 saves for his third shutout of the season and the 28th of his career. He has blanked the Sharks three times in regular-season play during his career. San Jose (34-13-6) saw their six-game winning streak end despite 20 saves from backup goalie Alex Stalock. The Kings (30-18-6), meanwhile, snapped a five-game winless skid and won in San Jose for the first time in 10 tries. - - - Oilers 4, Canucks 2 David Perron recorded his second career hat-trick, and fellow left winger Jesse Joensuu scored the winning goal as the struggling Edmonton Oilers beat the Vancouver Canucks. Joensuu took advantage of a failed Canucks clearing attempt to make it 3-2 for Edmonton at 2:20 of the third period. It was his third goal of the season. Perron scored his third of the night and team-leading 22nd of the season into an empty net and the Oilers (17-32-6) won on consecutive nights for the first time this season.
