(adds late game) Dec 13 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Saturday's National Hockey League games. - - - Islanders 3, Blackhawks 2 The New York Islanders snapped Chicago's eight-game winning streak after a power-play goal by Lubomir Visnovsky in the third period gave them a 3-2 win over the Blackhawks. Islanders goalie Jaroslv Halak finished with 23 saves and Scott Darling had 38 for the Blackhawks. Patrick Kane scored his 14th goal of the season for the Blackhawks, who fell to 20-9-1. - - - Ducks 4, Jets 1 Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and added an assist as the Anaheim Ducks extended their winning streak to seven games with a 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Anaheim (21-6-5) also got a power-play goal from Jakob Silfverberg and shorthanded goals from Nate Thompson and Andrew Cogliano. Brian Little scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season for Winnipeg (15-10-6). - - - Senators 3, Bruins 2 (shootout) Bobby Ryan beat Boston's Tuukka Rask with the deciding goal in the shootout to give Senators (12-12-5) new coach Dave Cameron his first NHL victory. The 3-2 win came in Cameron's second game after taking over from the fired Paul MacLean. The loss was the fifth in the last six games for the Bruins (15-13-2). - - - Maple Leafs 4, Red Wings 1 Richard Panik scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway late in the second period as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1. James van Riemsdyk, Morgan Rielly and Nazem Kadri also scored for Toronto. - - - Capitals 4, Lightning 2 Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom recorded the first regular-season hat trick of his career as the Capitals held off a late rally by the Tampa Bay Lightning. The win lifted the Capitals (14-10-5) to 4-0-1 in their last five games. The loss was the third in four games for the Lightning (19-9-3), who got late goals from Tyler Johnson and Matt Carle before Capitals center Eric Fehr sealed it with an empty-netter with 38.1 seconds remaining. - - - Flyers 5, Hurricanes 1 Sean Couturier scored less than a minute into the game, and four other Philadelphia Flyers contributed goals in a rout of the Carolina Hurricanes. Claude Giroux and Brayden Schenn each added two assists, and goaltender Steve Mason made 25 saves for Philadelphia (11-13-5), while the Hurricanes (8-18-3) lost their fifth straight game. - - - Sabres 4, Panthers 3 Nikita Zadorov scored 29 seconds into overtime to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers. Sean Bergenheim, Jimmy Hayes and Jussi Jokinen scored for the Panthers (12-8-8). - - - Blue Jackets 4, Penguins 3 (SO) Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had 33 saves, not including the winning stop in the shootout, as the Blue Jackets beat the Penguins in a game that featured 88 penalty minutes. The Blue Jackets (12-15-2), who won only six of their first 22 games, have now won six in a row in a streak that started on Dec. 1. Nick Folingo, Boone Jenner and defenseman Jack Johnson scored goals in regulation for the Blue Jackets.\ - - - Blues 3, Avalanche 2 (Overtime) T.J. Oshie scored 1:03 into overtime and the St. Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche. Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk had a goal and an assist and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Blues, who have won four straight. Goaltender Jake Allen had 23 saves for the Blues (20-8-2). - - - Rangers 5, Canucks 1 Mats Zuccarello had two goals as the New York Rangers jumped out to an early lead and defeated the Vancouver Canucks. Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, center J.T. Miller and defenseman Marc Staal also scored for New York, which improved its record to 13-10-4. The loss extended Vancouver's winless streak to four games (0-3-1) and left the Canucks with a 18-10-2 record. - - - Wild 4, Coyotes 3 (shootout) Minnesota left winger Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu scored in a shootout and the Wild sent the Arizona Coyotes to their ninth straight home loss. Left winger Lauri Korpikoski gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead in the final minute of the second period before Parise scored his 11th goal of the season to tie it at 14:07 of the third period on a power play. The Wild improved to 16-11-1 while the Coyotes dropped to 10-17-3. - - - Stars 4, Devils 3 Tyler Seguin and Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist each as the Dallas Stars defeated the New Jersey Devils. Dallas (11-13-5) left winger Antoine Roussel had two assists and Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 28 of 31 shots. - - - Sharks 2, Predators 0 Antti Niemi and the San Jose Sharks turned the tables on the defensive-minded Nashville Predators in a win. The San Jose goalie, making his first appearance in four games, stopped 29 shots (18 in the third period) for his second shutout of the season and 28th of his career. San Jose (17-11-4) moved past Calgary into third place in the Pacific Division and tied Vancouver -- with two games in hand -- in points with 38 apiece.
