Oct 16 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Wednesday's National Hockey League games. - - - - Ducks 3, Flames 2 Teemu Selanne's goal late in the second period turned out to be the difference as the Anaheim Ducks earned a victory over the Flames. The loss extended Calgary's losing streak to 17 in a row at Honda Center. The Flames (3-1-2) have not won in Anaheim since Jan. 19, 2004, the longest drought for any Ducks opponent. Dustin Penner and Kyle Palmieri also scored for the Ducks (5-1-0), who captured their fifth consecutive win. Lee Stempniak and Jiri Hudler produced goals for Calgary. Anaheim held a 3-1 lead entering the final period, but Calgary created a tense finish. Kris Russell attempted a shot just below the blue line that ricocheted off Hudler's stick and into the net at 4:15, but the Flames failed to score again. Anaheim goalie Victor Fasth recorded 33 saves, while Calgary goaltender Joey MacDonald finished with 19 stops. - - Rangers 2, Capitals 0 Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 22 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season and lead the Rangers to a win over the Capitals. Lundqvist, who ranked 52nd among NHL goaltenders with a 4.21 goals-against average entering the night, was seemingly inspired by the sight of Washington and posted the 46th shutout of his career. John Moore and Ryan Callahan scored goals 1:46 apart in the second period to send the Rangers (2-4-0) to their first win since Oct. 7. The Capitals (2-5-0) have not scored a goal against Lundqvist since Game 5 of last season's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which the Rangers won in seven games. Since then, Lundqvist shut out New York for nine consecutive periods, stopping 86 straight shots. Alex Ovechkin, who leads the Caps with six goals, recorded a team-high seven shots but continued to be frustrated by Lundqvist, who held him to one goal on 30 shots during last year's playoff series.
