Jan 9 (The Sports Xchange) - Veteran NHL defenseman Wade Redden announced his retirement Thursday.
Redden, 36, split last season between the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins after the New York Rangers bought out his contract. Redden had spent the prior two seasons playing for their American Hockey League affiliate, then the Connecticut Whale.
The Nashville Predators have recalled forward Filip Forsberg from the Swedish National Team, the club announced Thursday.
Forsberg, 19, was named Most Valuable Player, best forward and a media all-star at the 2014 World Junior Championships, helping the host nation to a silver medal, his third time placing at the tournament (2014: silver; 2013: silver; 2012: gold).
The postponed game between the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes from Tuesday night has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. ET at First Niagara Center in Buffalo.
The game was postponed due to the hazardous weather conditions in the Buffalo area. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
