Dec 28 (The Sports Xchange) - Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Carter Ashton returned to the lineup for Sunday's game with the Florida Panthers following a 20-game suspension for violation of the NHL/NHLPA drug policy regarding performance-enhancing drugs. Ashton was suspended Nov. 6 and in a statement released by the NHLPA at the time, he said he unwittingly ingested the drug Clenbuterol after borrowing a training partner's inhaler to treat asthma induced by exercise. The 23-year-old's suspension ended Dec. 18 and he spent last week on a conditioning assignment with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. - - - The Boston Bruins recalled forward Jordan Caron from Providence of the AHL. Caron has skated in two games this season for Boston. The 24-year-old has competed in 125 career games for the Bruins, notching 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points. - - - The Nashville Predators waived forward Derek Roy and assigned forward Viktor Stalberg to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. Roy signed a one-year deal with Nashville this offseason. He had 10 points in 26 games. - - - New York Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak returned to practice after being activated off injured reserve. Halak was placed on IR on Saturday, retroactive to Dec. 20, with a lower-body injury. He is 18-6-0 with a 2.24 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and three shutouts. - - - The Dallas Stars reassigned defenseman Cameron Gaunce to the Texas Stars of the AHL. - - - The Columbus Blue Jackets assigned goaltender Anton Forsberg to the Springfield Falcons of AHL. Forsberg, 22, recorded 26 saves in his NHL debut on Nov. 1 at New Jersey in a 3-2 loss to the Devils.
