Feb 3 (The Sports Xchange) - Calgary Flames goaltender Karri Ramo is out until after the Olympic break after injuring a knee Saturday against the Minnesota Wild.
In a corresponding move on Monday, the Flames called up goalie Joni Ortio from the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL.
Ramo, 27, recently emerged as the team's starter. He is 11-10-4 with 2.66 goals-against average and .908 save percentage this season.
Ortio, a sixth-round pick in the 2009 draft, is 19-5-0 with a 2.08 goals-against average and .930 save percentage with Abbotsford this season.
The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Raphael Diaz from the Montreal Canadiens for forward Dale Weise.
Diaz, 28, had 11 assists and was third on the Canadiens with 100 blocked shots in an average of 18:53 of ice time over 46 games. He will play for Switzerland at the Sochi Olympics.
Weise, 25, has three goals and nine assists while averaging 7:45 of ice time in 44 games.
Canucks coach John Tortarella was contrite as he comes off his 15-day suspension Monday night at the Detroit Red Wings.
In a meeting with reporters, Tortorella said he regrets the incident that led to his suspension.
Tortarella was disciplined by the NHL without pay for charging the Calgary Flames' locker room after the first period of their game on Jan. 18 that included several fights.
"It hasn't been a great two weeks," Tortorella said. "It's been very embarrassing for my family, myself and, more importantly, everybody else around me that I'm supposed to represent."
Colorado Avalanche forwards Alex Tanguay and Paul Stastny will be out of the lineup Monday night against the New Jersey Devils, according to the Denver Post.
Stastny (ankle) and Tanguay (knee) are with the team as it starts a four-game road trip, but were ruled out of Monday's game. This is the second straight game both players will miss.
