NHL Roundup: Leafs' Kadri suspended three games
The NHL suspended Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri for three games on Thursday for his hit on Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom during Wednesday night's game.
Kadri collided with Backstrom while charging the net midway through the first period and used a forearm to deliver a blow to the goalie's head. Backstrom stayed in the game for a short time before he was replaced by backup Josh Harding in the Wild's 2-1 shootout victory. Kadri received a two-minute minor for goaltender interference.
Kadri committed another offense later in the game. He received a major penalty and game misconduct when he hit Wild center Mikael Granlund.
---The Nashville Predators recalled forward Filip Forsberg from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League and assigned forward Taylor Beck to the Admirals, the team announced Thursday.
Forsberg, 19, had six points during a four-game stint with Milwaukee, reaching the scoresheet in each game. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound winger started the season with Nashville, amassing five points in 11 games.
---Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was diagnosed with a Grade-2 groin strain that could keep him out four to six weeks.
An MRI revealed the injury after the Kings sent Quick back to Los Angeles on Wednesday. Coach Darryl Sutter said Quick would begin rehab immediately but would not give an exact timetable for his return. The 27-year-old Quick was injured Tuesday night in overtime of the Kings' game against the Buffalo Sabres while making a save.
Ben Scrivens was to take Quick's place in goal on Thursday night for a game against the New York Islanders. The Kings called up Martin Jones from the American Hockey League as a backup for Scrivens while Quick is sidelined.
