Nielsen Holdings completes $950M sale of expositions business to private equity firm Onex

NEW YORK (AP) -- Nielsen Holdings NV has completed the $950 million sale of its expositions business to private equity firm Onex Corp.

Nielsen Expositions runs business-to-business trade shows in the U.S. Nielsen Holdings agreed to the sale in May.

The expositions business is being renamed Emerald Expositions Inc. It has about 240 employees and four U.S. offices. The business had 2012 revenue of approximately $183 million.

Onex has offices in New York, Toronto and London.

Nielsen Holdings provides information and insight into what global consumers watch and buy. It has headquarters in New York and the Netherlands. Shares added 28 cents to $34.61 in midday trading.
