Nigeria's economy to perform better in H2 after slide into recession - vice president's office

LAGOS (Reuters) - Nigeria's government expects its economy to perform better in the second half of the year after it slipped into a recession in the first half, the vice president's office said on Wednesday. "It is likely the second half will be better than the first half of 2016. This is because many of the challenges faced in the first half either no longer exist or have eased," it said in a statement. It said growth rates are likely to improve Indeed, as spending on projects yield results. (Reporting by Alexis Akwagyiram and Chijioke Ohuocha; Editing by Toby Chopra)
