NintendoLand is a Virtual Theme Park for Wii U

When the Wii U launches later this year, so will a new game by Nintendo called NintendoLand. The theme park-style game will feature 12 mini games starring Nintendo characters you already know and love such as Donkey Kong, Zelda, and Luigi.

While the company doesn't quite have all the games for the title ready to show off, it did have a few playable mini games from NintendoLand on the show floor at E3 for attendees to check out.

Overall, you're going to get the same feel from NintendoLand as you probably did from Wii Sports with the original Wii. The games are fun, but not highly complex. While you might pull the title out to play with friends right after you get the console to show it off, or at parties when you need a little group entrainment, you're probably not going to pull this one out to play alone at home when you have other games available.

The Wii U can handle up to five players at a time, so many of the games we played have one player using the Wii U GamePad and others using traditional Wii controllers.

In Luigi's Ghost Mansion, for instance, the player with the Wii U GamePad plays the role of a ghost in Luigi's mansion. The ghost's one goal is to get to the other four players –- who are using traditional Wii controllers –- without those players shining their flashlights on the ghost and exposing him or her. The ghost is invisible, however, players' controllers will vibrate with the ghost is getting near. Definitely fun to play for a few minutes, but not something you and a group of friends are going to be entertained by for very long.

The Legend of Zelda: Battlequest is another take on cooperative play. The player with the Wii U GamePad plays the roll of an archer, while players with Wii controllers are swordsmen. All three try to battle different opponents together in a castle scene.

Donkey Kong's Crash Course was the one game for the title we were able to play which is actually played alone. The game takes the look and feel of Donkey Kong, and then has you play the role of a small wheeled object that has to navigate a course using the Wii U GamePad. The game is interesting in the way it's controlled, an often looking at the GamePad while you play is a little easier than trying to play looking at your television. Definitely a game you or your child could happily play while someone else was watching TV, a unique feature of the Wii U.

Animal Crossing: Sweet Day, and Takamaru's Ninja Castle are also headed to the title, with seven other games to be announced at a later date.

At first I thought the IRS scandal was leaked to distract from the Benghazi scandal. But that didn't make sense because the IRS scandal is a more obvious abuse of power than the White House lying about the murder of four Americans in Libya. Before I had resolved which scandal was distracting from which, we found out the Department of Justice was spying on The Associated Press -- not to protect national security, but to prevent the AP from scooping the White House. Then, this week, it broke that the Department of Justice was also spying on Fox News for reasons that remain unexplained. ...
