NJ Transit breaks out buses to ease congestion

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Dozens of buses added by New Jersey Transit to shuttle Super Bowl fans from MetLife Stadium have helped relieve the postgame fan congestion at the rail station.

NJ Transit began loading 50 buses to shuttle fans to the Port Authority terminal in New York City early Monday, and the crowd lessened in a matter of minutes. The move came more than two hours after the end of Seattle's 43-8 victory over Denver in the NFL title game.

Nearly 28,000 fans rode the rails from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium on Sunday. That's nearly double projections and well above the previous New Jersey Transit record of 22,000 set at a 2009 U2 concert.
