No injuries reported in Saturday afternoon vehicle fire

Aug. 20—GRAND FORKS — There were no injuries after a semi and another vehicle caught on fire on Saturday afternoon in Grand Forks.

The Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched around 12:21 p.m. to the area of 32nd Avenue South and South 48th Street for a reported vehicle fire, according to a news release.

Crews arrived on scene to find a semi tractor and a passenger on fire located in the south side parking area of U.S. Foods at 4601 32nd Ave. S. The fire had also extended to an attached trailer, the release said. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire stopping its spread to other tractor trailers nearby. The tractor and passenger vehicle involved are a complete loss and the attached trailer sustained significant damage.

Two other vehicles suffered heat damage.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, and one command vehicle with 18 personnel. There were no injuries to fire personnel or the public and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and U.S. Foods personnel.
