A male body was found in the Big Sioux River at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls early Wednesday morning.

An unidentified male body was pulled from the Big Sioux River in downtown Sioux Falls Tuesday morning by authorities.

The body was found above the rapids "on some rocks" just before 7 a.m. along Fawick Park, said police spokesman Sam Clemens. Police do not know the male's age range, where he entered the water or the events leading up to his death.

There was "no obvious signs of trauma" on the body and police do not believe the male's death was suspicious, Clemens said. Authorities are conducting an autopsy and plan to notify family members when they identify him.
