No Quiero Salmonella: Taco Bell Linked to Outbreak

I find it outrageous that the health department keeps this information from the American public. I believe that we have a right to know the source of an outbreak as soon as it is known, so that we can make educated decisions regarding where we will eat and where we will NOT. If the health dept wasn't required to disclose the information, then Taco Bell itself should have informed us, out of respect for it't customers. I have made my LAST trip to Taco Bell....I don't trust them.

As a cost cutting measure the food was prepared at the Mexican homes in Texas, then brought back to the restrurant.

Taco Bell probably does take food safety seriously. The problem is that their minimum wage employees may not always do the same. I suspect the bacteria came from the bagged lettuce, cheese, or tomatoes that they use in their food. The meats and beans are generally kept at too high a temp for Salmonella bacteria to survive. Contamination of one of the cold ingredients a the supplying factory is probably the most likely culprit in this case.

For those of you who say you got sick right after eating Taco Bell food, your problem was not caused by this. Salmonella takes 7 - 10 days to become symptomatic after exposure. More than likely you felt sick because of the fat and calory overload.

This is why everytime my husband goes there and he says his stomach hurts.

The CDC,FDA and EPA need to man up.

See? Chicken afterbirth, people. Or, most likely a worker put raw chicken onto a place where sort of fresh toppings were suppose to be because they were too busy texting or looking up their Facebook accounts.

The IRS is the only federal agency not afraid to step on toes.

I wonder what it was. I tried their Beef Crunch Burrito two weeks ago and I felt sick after. I thought it was nothing much. I'm hoping this has nothing to do with it!

GEE !!! And the contaminated food stuff was manufactured in the never do anything wrong USA !!! Make safe food purchases! Next time buy only what is produced in China !! Avoid the USA manufactured lemons !!

Both my sister and brother-in-law are dog sick right now from a stop at Taco Bell. They knew better, but were in a hurry. Never again.
In their ex-urban town in Northern California, illegals are hired to work food prep. even in non-ethnic regular restaurants.
In San Francisco Bay Area too, lots of restaurants using illegals.
Food handling, [i.e., no raw meat near fresh food], hand washing, policies for maintenance of proper food storage temperatures are completely different [or ignored] in that culture. That practice is brought here and making some of us sick.

Yet another cost to society of hiring illegal aliens instead of Americans who Taco Bell routinely rejects, this from many personal experiences.
